Asked in Claude
Does a standing letter of authorization trip custody?
Answered from Redan’s knowledge base
Yes. The SEC staff’s no-action letter to the Investment Adviser Association (February 21, 2017) says so. A standing letter of authorization lets the adviser tell the custodian to move client money, and that is custody under Rule 206(4)-2(d)(2)(ii). The staff will not recommend enforcement for skipping the surprise exam if seven conditions hold, among them: the client signs the instruction naming the payee, the adviser cannot change the payee, and the custodian verifies each transfer and notifies the client.

The install
Three steps, in Claude.
1
In Claude, open Customize, then Connectors.
It is in the left sidebar. Connectors is the second tab.

2
Click Add, name it Redan, and paste your link.
The link goes in the server URL field. Then click Continue.

3
Under Authentication, choose None, then click Add.
Claude checks the server and usually selects None for you. Nothing else on that screen needs touching.

That is the whole install.
Then ask it something
In your own words.
The question you would put to a colleague who had read every order.
Redan answers from its own knowledge base and names the record the answer came from.
- Has a CCO been charged individually?
- We describe ourselves as conflict-free.
- When is the annual compliance review due?
- Do we ask whether they train models on our data?
- What training covers texting clients on WhatsApp?
- Do we have to show the losing years?
- Has the SEC charged firms over off-channel communications?
- A deck shows gross performance with no net alongside it.
- When is Form 13F due?
- Do we ask how fast they will tell us about a breach?
- What is a compliant way to show gross and net?
- What does a new hire take?
What it can reach
The calendar
What a registered adviser owes and when — the date, how often it comes round, and how far ahead the work starts.
The vendor packet
The questions Redan puts to a third-party vendor, word for word, with the guidance a reviewer applies to the answer.
Enforcement
Actions against advisers and their compliance officers — the charge, the penalty, the release number, and the order itself.
The course catalog
The compliance courses Redan publishes — what each one teaches, who has to take it, and how often it comes round again.
Worked examples
Advertising language the SEC treated as deficient — the phrase, why it is a problem, and what it should have said.
Marketing patterns
What gets flagged in a deck or an advertisement, how serious it is, and the revision Redan suggests.
When Redan does not hold something, it says so rather than guessing.
Notes
A few things that come up.
Your client takes a config file
Some clients want a file instead of a dialog. The same link goes in as an HTTP server URL.

}Claude already has a connector
Claude’s free plan allows one custom connector at a time. If something else is attached, remove it before you add Redan. Paid plans have no such limit.
You lost your link
Sign up again with the same address. Redan keeps the link only as a hash and cannot re-send the one you had, so a new one is the only way back. Your old link keeps working until the new one is used for the first time, so nothing breaks while the email is in flight.
